Many students have already mapped out their post-BTech plans, while others are still exploring options. If you’re considering an MBA as your next step, here’s some exciting news: you can potentially earn both your engineering and management degrees through just one exam—JEE Advanced! Intrigued? Read on to discover how this works and how you can pursue both BTech and MBA without taking the CAT exam.

All About IIT-IIM Dual Degree Courses

Several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) offer unique dual-degree programs that combine a Bachelor’s degree in Technology (BTech) with a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). These programs are a result of collaborations between IITs and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), allowing students to earn both degrees seamlessly. This offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain technical expertise through their BTech while simultaneously developing managerial skills through the MBA, without needing to appear for the CAT exam

In these dual-degree programs, students can pursue a BTech at an IIT and, based on their academic performance, transition directly into an MBA program at an IIM—without the need to take the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is typically required for MBA admissions.

To qualify, students must first clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced to gain admission to a BTech program at one of the participating IITs. By maintaining the required academic standards throughout their BTech, they become eligible to seamlessly move into the MBA program at an IIM upon completion of their engineering degree. This pathway offers a streamlined route for students who want to blend technical expertise with business acumen.
